Kinder/PreSchool Age (Ages 1 through Prep) Children are loved at Portland Baptist. We have some special classes just for them on Sunday Morning! Right now those from age 1 through Prep are learning about “My Great Big God.” Though a variety of activities the children are growing more aware of God’s love, care and help in their everyday life. Young children have unique needs. Their understanding of the world is limited. And their most effective method of learning is through play! In the class they have a chance to actively explore Bible truths in ways that involve every sense. They will discover ways to do what they learned in class, so Bible truths are applied in ways that have real meaning for their lives. On Sunday Morning… Starting at 10 am your child can attend a Sunday School program designed just for them. Using a variety of crafts, stories, play, and music, this time has become a favorite among our children. The Sunday School rooms are located in the church hall.Primary School Age (Grades 1 through 4) God’s family always has the best reasons to rejoice: we know who God is and realize what He has done for us. This year those in grades 1 through 4 will discover how God’s people – around the world and throughout time – have celebrated and still celebrate God’s gifts to us. These discoveries contribute to meaningful and enthusiastic worship and praise to God for His greatness. On Sunday Morning… Those in grades 1-4 stay with us for half of the service and leave to go to Sunday School before the main message. From the entry of the church, they follow their energetic teachers to the church house to learn how God loves and cares for them using games, activities, and stories from the Bible. Primary School Age (Grades 5 and 6) Kid’s Hope Program A number of our church members are involved in the Kid’s Hope Program in conjunction with a local Primary School. This provides one hour of one on one time for one child per week. For further information regarding Kid’s Hope contact David on 5523 3958. Mentoring of children in the Congregation A mentoring program has commenced for children between the ages of birth to 18. Parents are given the opportunity to have a prayer partner for their children – someone who will pray for them everyday and mentor them for a number of years. |
